Mr Solo Dolo

CuDi got me going crazy with the new tracks getting leaked everywhere. October 26th is too long to wait on his new album. All Kanye's fault.

Cycling!

Everyday for the last 2 weeks I have been riding my bike to work. It's a 6 mile round trip and by god it's awesome. Riding my bike makes me so happy. It totally reminds me of being younger when Mark and I would go on epic bike rides to the Sidlaw hills and Clatto park when we were about 10 or 11.

Yesterday Clare and I went for a ride to Broughty Ferry. Despite the idyllic picture above it was typical Scotland and a bit breezy so we didn't stay at the sea for long. Ended up heading along to Willows coffee shop and having some tasty food and people watching which was quite funny. Watching all these old people dressed up to the nines just to go for a cup of tea was pretty hilarious. Some of them had on some awesome outfits and special mention goes to the 80-ish year old woman in the full tartan outfit. It was ballin!

In other notes I fucking love my MacBook Pro. Chilling in Starbucks writing this just now and it is a dream to work on. My friend Nigel told me the trackpad would change my life and he was right. No idea how to go back to a regular trackpad after using these gesture controls.

if I was better at finding the right words to say, I wouldn't need to write

Ok so before you read this I need you to know that this is a pretty personal bit of writing and I'm making it up as i go along. Spewing thoughts I suppose. It's been just about 3 months since I changed jobs and I need to say that I absolutely love it. Like every job it has it's down sides and the biggest down side actually makes me think about quitting at least once a night. I spend so little time with Clare it's unreal, a couple of times a week is all we get. Now to you that may seem like normal bf/gf stuff but Clare and i are used to living in each others pockets so this is really really hard for us. I know it is bothering her a lot. I can tell it in her voice. Honestly, it's bothering me just as much but I won't say it to her because it might make things worse. I'm spending a lot of time at work. 8pm-8am is what nights are turning into. Secretly I love the pressure and honestly I have never worked so hard in my life . Working nights has totally changed the way I view this business and has got me thinking about a lot of things I can change about the way I work when I go back on dayshift. I know if Gord reads this he will piss himself but I have such a better understanding of Grant Bloomers mentality now I have worked nightshift.

The other thing in my head is this laptop I'm typing on now. Our time together is running out. In 9 days time I will be the recipient of a MacBook Pro. It will be shiny and quick and sexy as hell but in all honesty........this is my computer. I have had it for years. My bro gave me it when it had a hardware fault and the company gave him a free upgrade. I nurtured it, repaired it got it working. It has been everywhere with me. To all the rollerblading comps. It has made songs, edits, browsed typed and been used by many many a person who has visited my flat. I still swear it has one of the best keyboards i have ever used. Sure it crashes all the fucking time. It takes 5-7 goes to start up. Sometimes forgets it has hardware installed and gets hot as fuck but surely this is character. Isn't the little quirks we have as humans what makes us love each other? Maybe I love this laptop. I feel like I'm dumping a lover for a younger skinnier model. This laptop will forever have a place in my heart and I wont throw it out. Maybe it has something to do with the fact it has a StússyxHeineken sticker on it. Maybe.

Also why is there no good rap albums anymore? Tha Carter III doesnt count. Blueprint 3 doesn't count. Kid Cudi's debut album isn't really rap and more an experimental indie album. All the hip hop albums i listened too are old albums. Listening to Sage Francis "Personal Journals" and Atmosphere "The Lucy Ford E.P.s" get me so excited about hip hop but then i remember that very few things have excited me since. cLOUDDEAD are amazing but finished. Why? is getting closer to indie. Deep Puddle Dynamics never did a second album. Themselves at least released a mixtape. Maybe i should start rapping so I can release an album I like. Who wants to do the beats?

Looking forward to a few things, firstly going to see my Dad. Highlight of my year and also the worst. Being with him makes me so happy but the 8 hour train ride back home is so depressing because I know it will be a long time till I see him again. We get so close when we are together and every year we break down a few more walls and get that bit closer but when I leave it knocks us back again. 2 steps forward 1 step back. One day our lives will bring us to a place where we are closer both emotionally and physically. It will happen.

The second thing? Clare and I looking for a flat. In September if all goes to plan.

I hope it does.

THE WORLDS MOST IMPORTANT TV SHOW!

It's finally here. Si Mulvaneys epic masterpiece of the Chaz Sands Invitational is airing on Extreme!!! I gave Si two years worth of comp footage so I hope it made it in!

Chaz Sands Invitational Trailer from Simon Mulvaney on Vimeo.

From Matt Dearden:

During the course of planning last years Chaz Sands Invitational we set out to make it the best contest we could.

One of our main goals was to make a TV show for the event, and we did just that. Rampworx and Extreme TV partnered to bring you one of the biggest pieces of promotion Rollerblading has had in a very long time, “The Chaz Sands Invitational” TV show.

This is a 1 hour long show on Extreme TV (Sky Channel 419 + Virgin Media Channel 527) which will be broadcasting on Saturday 13th March 2010 at 8pm in the UK! (rest of world to follow, it’s being translated)

This involved a lot of sleepless nights and hard work from everyone involved and we hope you like the finished product, until then please watch the trailer and tune in on March 13th!!!

I would like to thank everyone that helped to make this project possible and put up with my constant nagging. All of the companies that flew riders out, the sponsors, the staff, the volunteers, all the riders, the lawyers, the artist, the camera men, the audio techs and to every single person that attended the event! Huge thanks goes out to Simon Mulvaney for giving up sleep to meet deadlines.

See you all on April 30th at Ramwprox for the next one!

Where is Jack Bauer?

Today I'm introducing a new blog feature. WHERE IS JACK BAUER?

After Clare gave me an awesome foot high Jack Bauer action figure with 25 points of articulation!!!!!! When I post a pic you need to guess where he is.

Here he is on my desk.
