Gettin' Fade Nation

One of the things I love in life is Rollerblading DVD's. Anyone that has been to my flat will notice that I have a huge collection. It's one of life's little pleasures. So the postman brought me a package all the way from Los Angeles, California containing. Fade Nation, 2Feet, a Fade Nation Tee, Too Faded and a pack of MTV YO! Raps cards(??????).

I was seriously juiced about Too Faded since I'm such a huge fan of Lonnie and Brandon's work. Lonnie made "Feet" which was a brilliant and creative video and Brandon recently made "The Meantime" which is one of my all time personal favourites. Basically Lonnie posted on Be-Mag that he was sitting on some old DVD's that needed shifting and I managed to get some off him and he had just got Too Faded back from the duplicators.

So I guess I better tell you about the film huh?

It's very Lonnie and Brandon to start with. Lots of Super 8, lot's of lifestyle shots and lot's of double angles. All of which are executed brilliantly. Way more profiles this time with 6 riders getting sections. You are definitely getting your monies worth as you have 6 profiles plus countless montages one of which includes the Dirt-Box guys! Always good to see Neil, Sam, Lee and Umberto! Major bonus of some Kevin Gillan clips too.

The whole video has the same style as Fade Nation as I mentioned with Super 8 and ramped slo-mo which on some of the tricks just makes you drool as you get to see the precision of people like Stockwell and Bailey. This is the first time I have seen a section from Victor Galicia but damn did I enjoy it. The guy has great style and an eye for skating obstacles slightly different than your average. Really hope he gets some more sections soon. A montage section of lines follows and as far as I'm concerend a welcome addition to any video. Watching Rollerbladers Rollerblade is always a good thing and Lonnie always has the best follow shots. It's also worth noting that Montre Livingston has the best Soyale in the buisness. Marc Moreno has a great section. Marc aka Enanoh to us Europeans has been killing it for years in the Clip videos and I love seeing him get a section in one of the biggest releases of the year. He has a huge array of tricks and a killer style. Hopefully this leads to some bigger things for him.

The big hitters have to be JC Rowe and Montre Livingston. JC Rowe just gets better and better. If I'm honest the first time I saw JC was in VG22 and I really didn't like him. He didn't stand out for me and then I saw him in Killerboots and thought it was alright but I still didn't like his skating. Then he switched from Remz to Xsjado and ever since then his skating has just blown up. He has so much control over his skates it's unreal. His skating is so fluid his section is full of lines and it made me just fall in love with Rollerblading all over again. Working a full time job and filming a section must be hard but he managed to pull it off. The section is fantastic with brilliant editing and music. It's one I'm going to be watching again and again. Montre is Montre. Incredible switch-up's, huge gaps and spinning spinning spinning. Montre is the future star of rollerblading. 2009 will be his year.

Too Faded is awesome. Spend some money and put this in your DVD player. You won't be dissapointed. I really hope Fade Nation 3 is in the works. Hopefully called "Threely Faded" which I want credit for if you call it that Lonnie.
